Walking And Bird Watching

We are near several local walks of varying difficulty and length. We have a 'wet room' facility so muddy clothes and footwear can be left to dry outside of your bedroom ********.
We are near the Preselli Hills, Cambrian Mountains and Black Mountains, ideal for ramblers or walking holidays. The nearby Ystwyth and Elan Valleys are areas of haunting natural beauty which remain undiscovered by the crowds. Cenarth Falls and the castle at Newcastle Emlyn, or the bird reserve at Cilgerran, Teifi Marshes and the Teifi Gorge are twenty mintutes drive. There is an abundance of birds and wildlife on our doorstep, a pair of kites regularly fly over the garden, we have a fox, hedgehog + rabbits that use the garden. The bird reserves at Bwlch Nanty yr Arian, Aberystwyth, Gigrin Farm, Rhayader and Yrys-hir bird are around an hours drive away.

Drinking and Dining
Penlon brewery is local to us and supplies excellent bottled ales. Please feel free to purchase alchohol locally and enjoy a drink in our lounge by the real fire or in the garden.
There are two local public houses and an Italian restaurant  on a farm within walking distance. Also top class dining venues such as the Golden Lion Newport ,Tynllidiart Arms or the Harbourmaster are within an hour's drive.

Beaches- All within 25 minutes

Newquay - lovely walk from Cei Bach to Newquay and back - see two small waterfalls - good dining facilities - traditional seaside town. Coastal path walks from here to Penbryn also very beautiful.
Llangrannog - superb cafe for homemade icecream right on seafront. Caves, rock formations, allows dogs on beach, surfing.
Tresaith - good rock pools, climbing, caves, great waterfall, parking difficult.
Penbryn - national trust - walk through delightful woods to small cove, alongside stream.
Mwnt-cliff top walk to see the baby seals in season. Porpoises,dolphins and seals all along this stretch of coast in season.

Towns

Aberystwyth - 45 minutes along coast road - several attractions and great walks, including the Arts centre.
Cardigan - Great sweet shop with all your traditional favourites. Great cinema and outdoor theate (in summer)- 20 mins.
Aberaeron - great crab fishing, tours of georgian harbour, quaint, nice to explore, famous honey icecream and Harbourmaster-restaurant, 20-mins.
Newcastle Emlyn - 10 minutes by car - castle market town, well worth extra 10 minutes drive to see Cenarth Falls
Railway - Vale of Rheidol railway Aberystwyth. ( 50 Minutes)
Thomas- small railway station towards Carmarthen where Thomas the Tank engine appears twice a year with some friends. ( 25 Minutes)
Shopping - Camarthen - 40 Minutes drive, Cardigan 20 Minutes, University Town of Aberystwyth 45 Mminutes, Narbeth 1 hour.
Castles - Cilgerran (20 Minutes), Newcastle Emlyn (10 Minutes) Narbeth (1 Hour).
Historic Sites - Llanchearon(National Trust) 20 minutes, Strata Florida  Abbey 40 minutes.
Mines - Llywernog lead and silver mine - Dolaucothi Gold mine.
Churches - St Mary's Cardigan (monastic) Holycross Mwnt, St Cynllo, St Pedrog, Y Fenwig (ancient links)

Local Events-August bank Holiday the Croeslan Vintage show including usually falconry,heavy Farm horses,Vintage cars ,steam rally etc...we are always full..book well in advance for this one...two minutes away!
                    -small farmers market and boot sale every Saturday morning in farmer's field opposite.
No big expectations...only ever around 5 cars..but a great vegetable stall!
